About
Hi! I’m Casey DeLa Cruz.
I hail from the San Francisco Bay Area (Vallejo, if you know the area). Raised by two Filipino immigrants, music and dance has always been a huge part of my life.
My career as a performer began at age 4, when I began ballet. My parents originally wanted me to become a figure skater, enrolling me in both ballet and ice skating lessons. But I had to choose one, so ballet became my first love. Later on I delved into other dance styles such as, jazz and contemporary.
Being a Filipino-American, I had to fulfill the musically inclined stereotype. I started piano lessons at age 5, and later began voice lessons age 10. My first voice teacher was Cecile Azarcon, one of the most prolific songwriters in the Philippines.
While I took dance and singing lessons, one part of me always wanted to act. I knew I wanted to be an actress watching Spider-man 3 (silly, I know). When 5 year old me saw Kirsten Dunst walk down that staircase singing “They Say It’s Wonderful” I knew that was what I wanted to be when I grew up. I began theatre in middle school, performing in community theatre and school productions. Now, I’m continuing my training at AMDA College of Performing Arts in Los Angeles.
